Blue boots

I meant to post this a few weeks ago but other entries got in the way. I bought these boots in anticipation of my trip in February: I needed comfortable and somewhat weatherproof shoes (I didn't even have any suitable pairs for Sydney winters! I spent too many days with wet feet this year). A lot of people seem to love Doc Martens, so this is me hopping onto the bandwagon pretty late with my navy 1460s. I picked this colour because it's subdued enough to match most my clothes, but a bit more fun than black.

I got them on ebay, and despite my reservations about buying shoes online (they never fit well) and from ebay (which can be pretty dodgy), they're perfect (slightly loose, but the next size down was too small!). I'm in the process of breaking them in right now.

And with this being the 9th post this month, I've broken my monthly posting record, haha. I don't think I'll be posting again before the end of the year (which has gone by really quickly and I'm glad to see it ending. I'm ready for a fresh start). Do you guys have New Year's resolutions? My main one for 2012 is to be less socially awkward e.g. stop hiding from people I know to avoid small talk. Er, not that I've ever done that.

Hope you have a great NYE!

  4. They're gorgeous! I've always wanted Docs because they seem like the perfect all-day shoe, but I'd never be able to pull them off.
I'm trying not to make New Year's resolutions next year because I know for sure I won't keep them! Hope you have a lovely new year Jane :) x

  7. Oh, I like the look of these shoes. I just wish I could pull them off! New years resolution for me is: to not swear as much... or at all, not that every single one of my sentences includes a swear word.. haha

  8. I love my doc martens, but I think you might be right about buying navy so that they go with everything!
Mine are floral, and they go with barely anything in my wardrobe.

  9. Haha so agree with you on being socially awkward. I don't know.. I just tend to face the other way when I see someone I just kind of know. I probably should fix that too.

    Anyway great blog. Following you!

  10. I want Docs! Also, I totally get the socially awkward thing. One time I purposely missed my train to avoid having to talk to this guy for an hour trip.

  21. Those docs are sweet, and they are a nice alternative from the usual black. My friend said she finally broke hers in after a year or so but they're very comfortable!

I'm the awkward type too and hate small talk. I think sometimes it can come across that I'm ignorant because I don't speak that much to new people, but I do try, it's because inside I'm thinking - What do I say, what do I say? haha, it's silly really. I got my first job at 18 in a shop where I work today and small talk was one of my biggest struggles, it felt so incredibly awkward at times because when you don't have anything in common you think to yourself - well, what can we talk about!? However 2 years on it's gotten a lot better. The best thing I found was being the first to start the conversation, it takes courage if you don't usualy do that, as before I prefered to speak when spoken to, if that makes sense? I find asking them about their weekends/weeks works and then you naturally develop onto a new topic.

Happy new year to you also!
