Seaside Saturday

icebergs bondi beach
My first beach day of the season yesterday - here's your cliche Bondi Icebergs pool shot.

fjallraven kanken beach
We sunbathed at Tamarama for a bit, and then walked back to Bondi so we could go in the water (Tamarama was closed due to rough conditions). I set out hoping for a nice tan but all I got was patchy sunburn.

In the afternoon, we hit up Bills at Bondi Beach. I hadn't been to any of the Bills cafes yet, but I'd been wanting to try for ages. (This isn't the same as Bill's in the UK, but I believe it's from the guy who owns Granger & Co. in London). They're famous for their ricotta hotcakes and sweetcorn fritters but I was starving so I went in for the full Aussie breakfast, even though it was 4pm.

Ever since I learned how to scramble eggs (embarassingly recently) I've hated ordering full breakfasts out because I feel like I can just make them myself, but all the components in this one - even the tomatoes (which are usually so soggy and pointless, in my opinion) were good.

It's located conveniently right next to Messina so I got myself a sneaky mini scoop of mandarin sorbet to finish things off.

  1. I see Bondi beach on so many IG's from Australia. I can't believe it! There's not a lot of people there? Sounds so perfect compared to being on a crowded beach. :)

  2. Convenient to have a Messina where you need it. I think ice cream after Bondi beach is an Aussie tradition (a silent one). The full breakfast looks delicious! I want to squeeze in a few more visits to the beach before the year ends.

  8. I feel the same about most breakfast dishes as components are usually quite simple. Gorgeous photos and weather. It is overcast 6 degrees in Paris, grass is always greener on the other side ! ( I am pretty sure I was whinging about the heat not too long ago)

  27. Can I come live with you? Seriously, that sounds like the best day ever. And I know it's weird, but pools by the ocean are my favourite. There is one in Vancouver and it's salt water pool but it doesn't kill your eyes when you swim in it. And you can still enjoying the scenery :)

  35. ha, obviously no day out anywhere vaguely near a messina would be complete without eating messina! and know what you mean about paying someone $15 for a plate of eggs/breakfast that you could make yourself, but sometimes you just really feel like it! though i'll usually go for poached because i don't know how to do that myself so it's a little bit more fun.
