Back in town

Before we launch into all the posts about my trip... here's what I did yesterday to reintegrate back into life in Sydney.

Went to Bondi Beach, where a shark alarm went off and they ordered everyone out of the water. I've never actually seen this happen before, apparently there's been a shark hanging around there these past few days. I was disappointed that you couldn't see it from the shore. It was a bit overcast but got sunny later in the afternoon.

Finally tried a Mary's burger, from their new takeaway shop in the CBD. I keep meaning to go to the Mary's in Newtown but I'm never in Newtown and can't be bothered making the trek (i.e. one bus). I made a bad choice, I got the cheeseburger which just tasted like a McDonald's cheeseburger with too much sauce. Will have to go back and try another.

Cider on a trippy table at The Cidery (which only has like two ciders? What a lie).

  1. That's crazy! I've only seen that stuff on Shark Week (on Discovery) but never been around for an alarm. Glad no one was hurt and you got a day at the beach. it's currently - 40 C here, can we trade places??

  5. That's a shame about the burger, I haven't tried Mary's yet but have only heard good things. That's pretty crazy about the shark too, I think it's the second time in a week that's happened!

  6. Sydney looks so good right now. I made the trek to Mary's some time ago, because it was supposed to taste like an in-n-out burger, but it was pretty average.

    1. Hm! From what I've tried so far, in-n-out is winning.

  15. Oh man, that's so scary that the shark alarm went off because I have no idea how they would monitor if there was a shark around! Do many people get hurt by them?

Sorry the cheeseburger was wank :(

    1. I've got no idea either! Not around Bondi and the bigger beaches but you hear of surfers getting attacked at other places sometime.

  16. There's something funny about the phrase 'shark alarm' and the way you make it sound so everyday... Australia never fails to make me smile :)

  17. Love the first photo – not the fact about the whole shark alert ordeal, but for the pretty colors ;) We get sharks here in California a bit often. x

  18. That's scary but awesome at the same time! Too bad you didn't get to see it. And only 2 ciders at a place that has cider in the name?! That's a disappointment :( But the table does look very cool!

  19. This is going to sound so random but this reminded me of a dream that I had about sharks! Oh now I have to google what it means :) That's pretty cool though!

I'm glad you're back and I am keen to see your trip on the blog! :)
