Aguas Calientes, where you catch the bus to Machu Picchu (or it's about a two hour hike).

Again we did a tour with a guide to start off with, who explained the significance of the various places around the site.

Still blowing my mind how this was built in the 15th century.

"Jenny can you take a photo of me from-"
"If you ask me to take one of those cliched photos of you from behind I will throw your phone off this ledge."
"... behind?"

A classic llama shot.

"Is that llama okay?"

We picked out a nice rock to sit on and watched the sunlight shifting over the city for ages. I still can't believe I've been there!
That was our last stop in South America. I've still got San Francisco and LA to talk about but I might hold off on those for a few weeks and get some more up to date posts I've been meaning to write up!

I get goosebumps when I look at your photos! They bring back all these memories... of course I also opted for the bus to reach MP :) To be up there is just so magical; words cannot describe it. It would be great if I could return one day.

ReplyDeleteThe llama reminds me of our dog, who also loves to lay around on his back and wiggle about (so to speak :p)
Oh myyyy, I've been waiting for this Machu Picchu pictures. The llama shot is absolutely fantastic haha. And the cliche shot from behind is absolutely awesome. I think if you can't take those kind of pictures there, were can you? ;)

ReplyDeleteNo matter how many pictures of Machu Picchu I see I'm always blown away, one of the top 5 places I really want to visit (the fact that llamas are my favourite animals might have played a part in my fascination for the place haha)

ReplyDeleteHAHAAH, I NEED ONE OF THOSE CLICHED PHOTOS FROM BEHIND OF MYSELF TOO THOUGH. And it always makes me lol when I see four legged animals laying down on their side. Saw a horse in Scotland laying like that too and thought it died in the 20-minute span I was away.

I'm so envioooooous!! Anyway, are llamas affectionate towards humans? Such cute creatures. So, did you chew coca leaves or what? :)
ReplyDeleteHm they weren't very, they'd walk away if you approached them! Didn't chew coca leaves haha but tried some coca candy to help with the altitude!
