Summer so far

The Dutch Golden Age exhibition at AGNSW. I'm a sucker for still lives involving flowers and, of course, skulls.

Best burgers at Bar Luca.

Belles Hot Chicken, which I'm pretty sure gave me a stomach bug.

Fish and Chips at Morrison's before our end of (clinical) year Cocktail party last night.

I am going to have to say that this summer has been overall very sub-par. Firstly because I hate hot weather, it just makes me super uncomfortable and sluggish and unhappy. I don't mind holidaying in places with hot weather, but making me live my mundane day-to-day when it's sweltering? No thanks. (I should probably get my thyroid function checked, because that would explain both the sweatiness and the anxiety.) Secondly, because my roster for this term has been a nightmare - working extra shifts because people have quit at the end of the year, working mostly evenings and every single weekend for the last ten weeks so that even on my random days off I don't get to see anyone because most of my friends would be working. I feel like I've been living in an alternate universe. And lastly, I've just been busy. I'm still adjusting to cooking and cleaning for myself (having my own place has brought out a neat freak streak in me), and I've been doing some things for orientation for the new interns at our hospital (that's right, it's been a year - officially a resident now).

So I'm very sorry I've been so slack in replying to and leaving comments! I've still been reading and appreciating them, and also all your blog posts, I just can't muster up the energy to say anything worthwhile. Anyway, I'm on the home stretch now. This coming week is going to be busy - I'm actually going to Melbourne for a few days to do an intensive care course, and then starting a set of night shifts the very same day I come back - but hopefully after that I will be less of a stranger!
